Al-Aqsa University organized an event for World Blood Donor Day, in cooperation with the Central Blood Bank Society (CBBS). The event was organized in the presence of management staff at Al-Aqsa university including Prof. Ayman Sobh the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Raafat Najm Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, and Dr. Mohammed Abu Odeh Dean of Community Service and Continuing Education. The staff of (CBBS) included Dr. Ziad Shaat, President of the Central Blood Bank Society, Dr. Mahmoud Daher, the Director of the WHO Office in the Gaza Strip; Shehda Barhoum, the Director of the Laboratory and Blood Banks Unit at the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
For his part, prof. Sobh emphasized the pioneering role of Al-Aqsa University in serving the Palestinian community, indicating that Al-Aqsa University had previously organized many blood donor campaigns and events with the participation of the employees and the students of the university.
In the same context, Dr. Zeyad Shaat that the President of the Central Blood Bank Society (CBBS) in Gaza stated that (CBBS) was basically established to educate the donors about the importance of blood donation for patients in need of different types of blood units indicating that blood donation is increasing day by day.
Dr. Nasser Hijazi gave a speech on behave of the blood donors, showing the great efforts and the unlimited giving of the Palestinian people in blood donation and continuous sacrifice for their community.
At the end of the event, the employees and the students at Al-Aqsa University launched a live blood donor campaign.
